Ecotricity named Which? Eco Provider 2022

We’re delighted to announce that Which? have named us a top Eco Provider for the second year running.

Our mission is to end fossil fuels and, to do that, we need to build more sources of green energy – it’s the only activity that makes a difference. Which? recognise this as an important part of their Eco Provider assessment.

Which? say: “We gave the highest marks to companies that supply 100% renewable energy to all their customers, generate renewable energy themselves and/or contract directly with companies that do.”

We’re always looking to do more in the fight against the climate crisis. We’re already Britain’s greenest energy company, and we’re doing more, turning our customers’ bills into even more mills. Right now, we have two new solar parks near completion, and many more in the planning stages. Plus, in spring 2023, our green gas mill near Reading will start supplying 4,000 homes with sustainable household gas made from grass.

We’re also different because we only supply vegan energy, as certified by The Vegan Society and Viva! You can be sure there are no animal waste products or body parts in your electricity or gas when you’re with us, although Which? don’t take that into account in their scoring system.

We’re building more green energy

As a country, switching to 100% green energy will be hugely positive for the climate, and it also has the potential to make Britain energy independent, so we’re no longer at the mercy of global price gouging.

In short, we’re focusing on the right things – building more sources of green energy – and we’re pleased to see that Which? agrees with us:“

In a Which? survey carried out in August 2022, 55% told us that an energy provider’s sustainability credentials are important when choosing a supplier. The same percentage said that building more renewable generation capacity, such as wind turbines and solar farms, would make them more likely to choose an energy company.”
